Formerly Sweet Magnolia Designs, By Misty Lea is the next chapter of Misty’s handmade journey.

After 13 years as a web developer in South Florida, she moved to Martha’s Vineyard in 2019 and discovered a passion for sewing. What began with cosmetic bags soon grew into a business and a local market booth. Today she creates reverse applique sweatshirts, bags, glass tumblers, mug rugs, vinyl-pressed tees, and Blind Date with a Book collections.

Misty’s work is inspired by coastal living and fabrics from independent artists. Several of her handmade bags have earned first- and second-place ribbons at the Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Fair.

She resides in Edgartown with her husband and their 6-year-old daughter.

2025 Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Fair – First- and second-place ribbons awarded for an upcycled 1970s Pendleton wool skirt made into a handbag, a shark-themed youth backpack, and a Halloween-themed bi-fold wallet.
