Sara Metalsmith
I’m an award winning metalsmith with a BFA in Craft from Oregon College of Art and Craft. I work bilaterally between wearable pieces and minimal utilitarian objects.
I apprenticed under a bench jeweler from the ages of 11 to 16 in Vineyard Haven. I graduated high school at 16 and was awarded the Vineyard Craftsman Scholarship. I then started showing at the Artisans in the summer before I moved to Oregon to start my degree. I’d return most summers to share the new techniques I learned and pieces I made as I pursued my education.
During my studies, I focused on traditional silversmithing and thrived in the mentor-based learning environment. After completing my BFA at 20, I went on to exhibit at prestigious craft shows around the US.
